Hammer began his career with wood at the age of 13 learning to log using horses. From there he took his passion for sailing to building wooden boats in Port Townsend, Washington. He now owns his own Wood MIzer mill to use on salvaged trees to create his functional art pieces.
Kathy saw her first loom in a museum at the age of 9. She learned how to sew at the age of 7. Fast forward, after several seasons in college she decided to pursue a different route, that of entrepreneur. Using her sewing skills she and Hammer started a custom outerwear clothing business. Upon selling this business, she pursued weaving along with raising two children. Now that both girls are self sufficient she tries to weave full time.
